We will remember
Last month we celebrated Centenary of the First World War Remembrance Day. At school we studied World War I through our history and literacy work.
On Remembrance Day we had an assembly when we learnt more about why poppies are worn on this day. We also learnt about the soldiers who came from Bracebridge Heath who died in WWI. We sang a remembrance hymn.
Afterwards at 11 o’clock we went outside and laid the poppies we had made in our school field and were silent for two minutes. A man from the British Legion came into school and admired our poppy display.
Our Headteacher took some children to the memorial in our village to lay a poppy wreath from the children of St. John’s.
